One day in a Cherry Picker’s shoes

Cherry season is now over in the southern hemisphere, we all know what that means: the end of summer (how sad is that… but don’t cry too much, cherries will be back next year!). Thanks to Camille Cherry, we will now be able to remember all the highlights of the season. She captured those moments in a delightful comic. Happy reading!

  • One day in a Cherry Pickers' shoes
  • 5 AM - My Alarm clockstart ringing.arm clockstart ringing.
  • 6 AM - We pass the gate at the orchard.
  • 6.15 AM - I grab a ladder, a bunch of buckets and I walk to my row.
  • 7 AM - I climb on the top of my ladder to pick the top of the tree.
  • 8 AM - supervisors are not totally understanding the job we are doing.
  • 9 AM - I'm a crazy picker! The sun is climbing and cherries are jumping in my bucket.
  • 10 AM - Smoko dilemma: Should I take a break or should I keep picking?
  • 11 AM - I get of my ladder and almost run into a guy.
  • 12 PM - The quality controler is checking my neighbour's bucket.
  • 1 PM - I have fun listening to the talkies. I'm wondering what the hell is going on.
  • 2 PM - The supervisor shows me a good and a bad cherry, they both look the same.
  • 4 PM - The harvest manager calls the last bucket on the talkies;
  • 4.30 PM - We are all exhausted when we meet for the best moment of the day : BEER Time!
  • The end... And we do it all over again tomorrow.
